The Situation of Human Rights Under Kim Jong-un

According to a new study made in North Korea, the human rights situation is far from improving since Kim Jong-un came to power. The study do show that the violations of human rights do range from torture and force labour to executions. A lot of Koreans do die from starvation. Others do face the lack of medical care, therefore, they are more at risk of having healthcare problems. Lots of people get tortured for doing nothing more than having religious belief. Another interesting fact is that North Koreans may be force into prison camps. Overall, the situation of human rights is very bad in North Korea and something needs to be done in order to improve human rights.

Something that did catch my attention is an interview with someone in a camp. He made the mistake of damaging a piece of sewing equipment. His consequence was that he was ask to chip his tip of finger. This is unthinkable to chip someone’s tip of finger. What is more surprising is that he could have easily been executed for what he has done. This is a situation that clearly show how the human rights are violated.
